Easy DIY Recipe for Kids: Ramadan Fruit Kebabs ✨

March Events that Moms & Kids will love! ❤️

Whether your kids are fasting from dawn to sunset or doing semi-fasts, involving them in kitchen activities is a great way to teach them about fasting & other Ramadan traditions.

It is common to break fast with dates so here’s a fun twist for kids, turning dates & fruits into yummy kebabs!

Your little chefs are sure to love this one…

You will need:

  • Seedless dates of a firm variety
  • Purple & green grapes
  • Blueberries
  • Melon
  • Watermelon
  • Halal mini marshmallows (Colored ones are preferred)
  • Skewers/ long toothpicks
  • Star cookie cutter ⭐ (~1″ diameter)
  • Circle cookie cutter for the crescent moon (~2″ diameter)

Mom Tip: We found this pack of cutters that works great!

If you don’t have all the fruits available, feel free to swap them with your kids’ favorite ones.

Directions:

  1. Wash & dry all the fruits & prep them into bowls.
  2. For the Crescent Moon: Slice the melons into 1/4″ thick slices. Place the round cookie cutter on the melon to cut a chunk from the melon. Reposition the cookie cutter on the chunk and cut out a crescent shape. From one slice of melon, you should be able to get 2 crescents depending on the the size of slice.
  3. For the Stars: Slice the watermelon into 1/2″ thick rounds and use the smallest star cookie cutter to shape the stars.
  4. Let your kids use their creativity & assemble the kebabs by adding the dates, fruit and marshmallows along the sticks. Add the crescent moon right at the top!
  5. Help them place it on a decorative plate & your Ramadan Fruit Kebabs are ready…

These are best when served within 1-2 hours of assembling so start prepping them just before Iftar. ✨
